Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my account or my data?

Takat has no account — everything lives on your iPhone. To wipe everything at once, open Takat and go to Settings → Delete all Takat data. Confirm the alert. This removes:

  • Every routine, program, and logged workout.
  • Your onboarding profile and app settings.
  • The coach conversation and any AI-generated exercise form cues.
  • The iCloud backup file (if iCloud is reachable at the moment of deletion).
  • The anonymous analytics and subscription identifiers tied to this install.

Delete All does not cancel an active Takat Plus subscription — only Apple can do that. The confirmation alert links you to iOS Settings → Subscriptions for that step.

If you want to scrub records outside the app (subscription history at RevenueCat, event records at PostHog), email support@takat.app and we'll forward the request on your behalf.

How do I restore a purchase on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same Apple ID you used to buy Takat Plus. Open Takat, go to Settings → Takat Plus, and tap Restore purchases. Your entitlement should return within a few seconds.

If nothing restores:

  • Confirm you're signed in with the purchase Apple ID (iOS Settings → [your Apple ID] → Media & Purchases).
  • Try Restore Purchases a second time — the StoreKit sandbox and fresh-install paths occasionally need a retry.
  • Still stuck? Email support@takat.app with the Apple ID you used to purchase and we'll check with RevenueCat.

How does iCloud sync work?

iCloud backup is a Takat Plus feature. In Takat, go to Settings → Cloud backup and toggle it on. Takat writes a single backup file to your own iCloud storage, under the Takat folder. You can see and delete the file at any time from the Files app on your iPhone under iCloud Drive → Takat.

Requirements:

  • An iPhone signed in to iCloud, with iCloud Drive enabled (iOS Settings → [your Apple ID] → iCloud → iCloud Drive).
  • Enough iCloud storage for a small backup file (typically well under 1 MB).

The backup is your file in your iCloud. We never receive or store it. To restore on a new iPhone: install Takat, restore or re-purchase Plus, then open Settings → Cloud backup → Restore from iCloud. The more recent write wins if you have both the device and cloud copies.

How do I cancel my Takat Plus subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through Apple. On your iPhone:

  1. Open Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions → Takat.
  2. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancellation stops future charges; the remainder of the paid period stays active until expiry. Uninstalling Takat does not cancel the subscription — only the Subscriptions settings can.

Can I export my workout data?

Yes. Open Settings → Backup & restore → Save a copy. Takat writes a plain-text JSON file with your routines, programs, and full set history, then opens the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, email it to yourself, AirDrop it, or hand it to any other app that accepts a file. You don't need Takat Plus for this — it's a free feature. If you also have Plus and iCloud backup enabled, the same data is additionally kept in your own iCloud storage under iCloud Drive → Takat where you can read it directly from the Files app.

What does the AI coach know about me?

Whatever you type or say in the coach session, plus a short summary the app assembles locally from your active routine, recent workouts, onboarding goals, and — if you granted Apple Health access — recent body weight and activity. It never receives your name, email, Apple ID, or payment details. Full detail lives in the Privacy Policy.

Why did the coach say it's rate-limited?

To protect the subscription margin from runaway usage, the coach enforces a per-install daily request count and a token-cost budget. The cheap routes (short confirmations, exercise cues, voice-log parsing) keep working even after the hard cap; the expensive routes (full program generation, template edits) will ask you to try again tomorrow. The counters reset at UTC midnight.

When will I hear back from support?

Within two business days (US Pacific), often same day. Please include:

  • Your iOS version (iOS Settings → General → About → iOS Version).
  • Your Takat version (Takat → Settings → About Takat).
  • A short description of what you tried and what happened.

For subscription refunds, Apple handles those directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.
